Approach

Understanding the digital lives of young people and what that means for care.

Our work moves between three layers: listening to young people, supporting clinicians, and contributing to the theoretical foundations of how we think about digital culture and mental health.

We use mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative), longitudinal data, and ecological momentary assessment to capture digital life as it actually unfolds.

THEMES

THEME 01 · QUALITATIVE

Youth voices in digital mental health

We do qualitative research grounded in young people's own accounts of how digital practices show up in their care - what helps, what hurts, and what they wish their providers understood.

Active questions

  • How do young people describe the role of social media in distress and recovery?
  • What digital practices feel protective, and what do those reveal about unmet needs?
  • How is the digital world currently asked about (or ignored) in clinical encounters?

Methods

Semi-structured interviews · focus groups · reflexive thematic analysis · participatory youth advisory boards.
